On November 16, 2019, at Atelier 10 -48, as an event related to MEETS TO-SHA, Hisami Ueno, curator of the Museum of Modern Art, Wakayama, was invited and gave a lecture “Modern Art and Mimeograph: From the Dawn to the Next Dawn”.<\/p>\n

This exhibition and lecture commemorate the production of the book “10 -48 The Pust and Future of Mimeograph”.
\nHisami Ueno gave a lecture based on what she told us in the book.<\/p>\n

This lecture introduces the first mimeographed printmaking work by the Museum of Modern Art, Wakayama AND before the birth of Yashoji Wakayama, a pioneer of mimeographed printmaking work.<\/p>\n

I hope this article will be one of the materials to examine mimeographed print expression.<\/p>\n

The chance started when posthumous works of Takejiro Shimizu were stored in bulk in 2006. He ran a printing studio in Wakayama and also engaged himself as a writer. At that time, we didn\u2019t know that there was such person who was involved in group activities in Wakayama.<\/p>\n

This is how the investigation started. I got hold of his works physically respectively and cheched how they were made. I collected tools and material and created sheets of stencil paper, as Ms. Kanzaki did. I found that it was very interesting with the techniques, effects, and history.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
